Real McCoy is the brainchild of German producer Olaf „O-Jay“ Jeglitza. With his expansive appreciation of all musical genres and his contacts in the burgeoning Berlin club scene, O-Jay released the first Real McCoy Track in 1989, titled „Pump Up The Jam - Rap“ (Top Twenty Hit in the German Top 100).
The success story continued with the the follow-up „It’s on You“, which became an instant hit reaching #1 in 12 countries and going on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide.
In 1993 their inked a worldwide major deal and took the charts by storm with their second album "Another Night", an explosive blend of Rap, Electronic and Pop.
Arista´s Clive Davis brought the group to the U.S. with the album and spearheaded the eventual recognition of the group as one of the break- out artists of 1995. Fueled by three smash singles, the album "Another Night" went Multi-Platinum in under 8 weeks.
The album included such hits as the Platinum-selling title track „Another Night“ that paved the way for the Top-10 Gold Single "Runaway" and the follow-up top-20 single "Come and Get Your Love".
The unprecedented success garnered the group awards for „Best New Artist of the Year" at the 1995 Billboard Music Awards, "Best Selling German Artist" at the World Music Awards and nominations for "Best New Artist" at the American Music Awards and "Artist of the Year" for both 1995 and 1996 at the Billboard Music Awards.
Real McCoy started their first US-tour, followed by Asia, Australia, Europe & South America.
In 1996 their were awarded with the VIVA Comet & received an ECHO! for most successful German artist in foreign countries.
In 1997 the group released their highly-anticipated fourth album "One More Time“.. The first single of this album was also titled „One More Time“ and took Real McCoy right back into the US charts, accompanied with a second US tour, followed by the rest of the world including Australia & Japan. In 1999, after a hefty 10-years of touring & recording in a row, Real McCoy took a well deserved break and O-Jay focused on his works as a producer & songwriter. He managed to create a second successful career as producer & songwriter in Germany.
During that time he did commercial shows once in a while as Real McCoy but did not release any new material. For promotional reasons he released the single „People Are Still Having Sex“ (a cover version of the 80´s LaTour classic) and in 2006 he took part of the polish Eurovision entry (ichTroje - „Follow my Heart“).
In 2009, Real McCoy returned to the big stage by taking part of the z103,5 Summer Rush Festival in Canada and DJ Bobo´s 1st of August Bash in Engelberg.
By now, Real McCoy has been part of the music business more than 25 years, with numerous awards and almost 20 million records sold.
Real McCoy is performing live on stage with a 3-headed set-up.
